Prof. Issam Shahrour
An honorary professor at the University of Science and Technology of Lille1- France, where he served as the Vice President of Research and former lecturer in Civil and Urban Engineering. He established and managed the Civil Engineering Research Laboratory. His research interests have focused on numerical and physical modeling in geotechnical and environmental engineering; sustainable management of natural resources, and smart systems in urban engineering.
He obtained his PhD on “Non-Linear Numerical Modeling in Geotechnical Engineering” (1982) and Master Degree from the prestigious Engineering School “Ponts et Chaussées” and the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris.
The research activity resulted in about 100 refereed journal papers and 200 papers in national and international conferences. He supervised around 100 Ph.D. dissertations in the field of geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering and conducted expertise for funded research projects for Regional, National, and European Institutions. He assumes various editorial responsibilities in national and international journals and conducts regular reviewing for about 15 international academic and professional journals.
