Dr. Bassam Abu Hamad
The General Coordinator and Professor at the School of Public Health-Al-Quds University (Jerusalem) and manages the Gaza Branch. A Public Health Specialist has been working in the health and social sector for 38 years. He has also developed systems and conducted program evaluations for many organizations and projects, especially in the field of public health, sexual and reproductive health, mental and psychosocial health, social protection, disability, gender-based violence, and social equity.
Bassam has been trained in UK and worked with many international organizations. He has been exposed to international experiences, especially through his work with ODI. Most of his professional career has focused on Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Rwanda. Bassam has supervised over 200 master theses and 4 Ph.D. theses in different fields including childhood development and education, psychosocial and mental health programs, nutrition, GBV, gender-related studies and epidemiological studies. He has published more than 100 products including co-authoring a book, 12 book chapters and tens of scholarly articles for service users, policy makers and researchers.
