Fifth Session - Demographic Trends in Palestine: Toward Achieving Social Justice

The session focuses on Demographic Trends in Palestine- Achieving Social Justice. This theme identifies the current reality and its shortcomings in terms of social protection systems through reviewing Palestinian social protection programs and institutions, the existing gaps in social protection systems and mechanisms for distributing social protection assistance as well as the failure to establish a social security system, current and future health indicators in Palestine and their impact on marginalized groups and future generations with all their social needs. Additionally, this theme is based on current and future demographic indicators and their future expectations to identify the future needs of social protection that consider population growth and future requirements, aiming to prevent deterioration or regression in the current status of social protection system. This session also discusses social and economic indicators related to social protection and the demographic structure of Palestine, with the goal of proposing strategies and policies based on a developmental, economic, and social perspective that are capable of addressing demographic, social, and economic challenges.
